A Menacing and Versatile Weapon
The lance is a spear designed for use from horseback. Derived from the Latin lancea, usually translated as “javelin,” the lance can be carried to impact or thrown.
We cover handling, retrieval, carriage, targeting and striking, offense and defense, and throwing. We teach the use of the war lance, not the jousting lance—for an explanation of the difference, refer to this blog post.
